Reflections

Glass isn't necessarily a photographer's friend. It reflects, it absorbs light, it's distracting, it's annoying, and that's why its reflections are often combatted with polarizing filters. It's a shame, really, because reflections can be truly exciting photographically, because they bring the world in front of the glass into contact with the world behind it in an interesting way.

Most people are accustomed to looking either AT a window or THROUGH a window. They focus on either the world in front of the pane or the world behind it. A camera sees both worlds and sometimes superimposes them in interesting ways. Then the world behind the pane enters into a relationship with the world in front.
